The Worst of Gay Scene
The Heretic attracts a mixed crowd, some young, fresh, attractive faces. Hope they find some place else to hang out. Most of the crowd is suffering from gay burn-out: having cruised a little too long, sexualized a little too much, and settled for too little, there's not much in the way of evolved, self-actualized gay men to offer the discerning shopper. There is a big range of attractiveness and physique here, but it's all on the most callow level--pack your pocket rocket but check your humanity at the door.
Good bar...
The staff was very friendly to a newcomer. The bartender bought me shots and the coat check guy kept me company as one guy after another flirted with me.I went three times during my stay and it was always a late crowd, after 10:30pm. I did not see any crusising going on in the back hallway, sad to say, as I was looking for it. There is a cover at 10pm on the weekends and the bar is closed Sundays. Worth checking out for sure, not as pretentious a clientele as other Atlanta bars and it's close to the sex clubs on Faulkner.
always a good time
some of the best times of my life have been here with good friends... just watch the RED hallway if your down that way ... haha... the staff is very friendly ... and there's always TONS of HOT HOT HOT men roaming and looking ... great cruising...
Heretic is great, esp on Wednesdays
Heretic is a great place to go and hang out. Each night has a different theme, so it can meet the desires of all of its clientele. At least once a week, everyone can find a night he likes at Heretic. Bartenders are polite and the drinks are good.
Heretic Bar-little leather edginess-great Dancing!
We love the Heretic, though we live in Nashville and don't get to go but a few times a year. Heretic has maintained just enough of it's leather edginess to be fun without scaring away the more "Polo and Penny-Loafer" crowd (do people really wear those???). The resident DJ is great and plays a solid mix while reacting to what the dance floor is craving that night. Heretic is a definite "not to miss" when you visit Atlanta!
